IPSO CALL FOR PAPER
22nd IPSO Congress Prague, Czech Republic 30 July – 3 August 2013
The International Psychoanalytical Studies Organization (IPSO) announces its Congress, to be held in conjunction with the 48th Congress of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA)
The overall topic of the joint Congresses will be
Pain:Clinical Experience and Fa Pain: Clinical Experience and the Development of Psychoanalytic Knowledge
The aim of the congress is to explore how analysts and patients face psychic pain in the clinical experience and how these encounters inform the ways we develop psychoanalytic theory and technique. Three major topics will be addressed during these congresses: Depression, Disturbances of affect regulation and Disruptions in the process of symbolization.
The IPSO congress program for Prague 2013 will contain a Plenary Session with scientific presentations including the candidates’ awarded papers, the IPSO forum, Supervisions and Interviews with senior analysts, Peer discussion groups and the IPSO Business Meeting where the new Executive Committee will be elected. These activities are intended to provide a scientific, respectful, plural and social environment where candidates can share their experiences, as psychoanalyst in training, enhancing their theoretical and clinical knowledge.
DEADLINES FOR CONGRESS
PAPER SUBMISSIONS: 7 September 2012
SUPERVISIONS: 1 December 2012
Proposals may only be submitted electronically – either online or by e-mail (The Writing Award). Submissions should be in the IPSO language (English, French, German and Spanish) in which you intend to present your paper although we strongly encourage all candidates to present in English due to the limited access to simultaneous translation during the IPSO congress.
Proposal for papers: submissions should include the title, an abstract of no more than 500 words and a summary of 60 words. When you submit your proposal online, you will be asked for the full and final Papers of no more than 5000 words. Papers submitted should be anonymous and your name should not appear in the manuscript. Your presentation should not take longer than 20 minutes and any psychoanalytic topic of your interest is welcome. You may not amend the paper after you have submitted it. Proposals for Supervision: if you are interested in presenting an adult or child-adolescent clinical case please send to Anna Mária Hansjürgens at ipso-europe@ipso-candidates.org.uk the following information: a) the clinical material you intend to supervise, b) a motivation letter explaining why would you like to present this clinical material and the clinical questions of interest for supervision, c) The official IPSO language of your preference for the conduction of the supervision with your explicit disposition to supervise in English if translation is not possible.
The IPSO Writing Award
We would like to invite you to participate in the third IPSO Writing Award, which will be given in Prague 2013 to the two most outstanding papers on a psychoanalytic subject from each of the three IPA regions: Europe, North America and Latin America. IPSO will award this prize based on blind peer reviews. The winners of the Writing Award will be invited to present their paper at the IPSO Congress and to have it published in the 2013 IPSO Journal. They will also be awarded with a certificate of recognition and with a cash prize of $400 (U.S.) for the first place award and $200 (U.S) for the second place award.
Submission Guidelines: we welcome papers on any psychoanalytic topic of interest. The author must be a member of IPSO and the manuscript must be an original work that has not been previously published. The paper should be no longer than 5,000 words and can be in one of the official IPSO languages: English, Spanish, French or German. Please include a 500 words abstract.
Entries must be submitted electronically: a) Please specify in your e-mail that your paper is participating for the IPSO Writing Award. b) Send to Graciela Hoyos at ipso-editor@ipso-candidates.org.uk and Karina Gutierrez at ipso-mail@ipsocandidates.org.uk : two (2) Word documents, one containing the manuscript with all references to the author deleted and the other Word document containing the author’s name, contact information, title of the manuscript, institute affiliation and language of the paper.
Remember the deadline for entries to proposals for the congress, the Journal and the IPSO Writing Award is 7th of September 2012 and for Supervision is 1st of December 2012.
